Harveys birth story, born 18/08/2010 weighing 10lb8!

Harveys due date was the 8/8/10, but (not so) little man decided he was quite comfy and my due date came and went. My induction was booked for 18/08/10, how ever on the 17/08/10 i hadnt felt right all day. At 9pm i had my first pain, but as i couldnt feel my bump 'tighten' i didnt believe i was in labour. After 7 hours of pain i decided to go to hospital. Me, my oh and mum arrived at the hospital at 4am. I still didnt beleive i was in labour until the m.w hooked me up to the machine and i saw my contractions on the screen. I had an examintaion and was 4cm. Five hours later, and a new m.w came to check me and i was still only four centimeters, she gave me a shot of pethidine but it didnt work so i decided to have an epidural. I was taken into a bigger room and given the epidural. However after three top ups the epidural had failed so the m.w gave me gas and air (brilliant stuff) a couple of hours later, the m.w came to examine me and pop my waters. Id only gone to 6cm but as she popped my waters i went up to 8cm but then my contractions stopped so i was given the hormone drip. The contractions came back worse than ever! An hour later i was ready to push, however a consultant arrived and said i was only allowed an hour to push and then i was going to be taken to theatre for a c-section. I was adamant that i wasnt going to have a section so he agreed to do a forceps trial, and if that didnt work i'd have the section. Exactly an hour later the consultant came back and told me id have to go to theatre. I was gutted. At 17.00 on the 18/08/10 i was wheeled into theatre and given a spinal block. At 17.16 the consultant pulled Harvey Martyn Harry Thomas out. They placed him on my chest and he wasnt breathing so they took him to the resussitation table. When i heard him cry i just cried! I had a few complications after, but it was so worth it!! xxx
